Growing up, my sisters and I use to play "Old Sisters." It was a day we use to dress up in hats, gloves, and purses pretending what we would be doing when we get old. Our bedroom was the house of one sister, the other two sisters, one lived in the living room while the other in our parents bedroom. We would pretend to call each other on the phone to make a "sister lunch date" at our favorite restaurant (the kitchen). The meeting place would be at one of the sisters pretend house which was usually our bedroom or our parents room - that's where the lip gloss or Vaseline was for our pretend lip sticks.
Now that I'm in my 40s, I often wonder about that play date we use to have. Sometimes I wonder if we prophesied happy living in our years of retirement. The three of us have our own lives living in different places and doing different things. It will be a pleasure to see and to live life as the real "Old Sisters" enjoying that season of our lives. The only difference, we have a younger sister, and she will be included. Here's to happy memories with my sisters.

Much love,

You 've taken me on a journey down a long forgotten road. Yes indeed, I remember. The dressing up, playing with the dolls, making mud pies all types leaves, being a pretend mother. Jesus, I've been transported back to 19.. let's just say it was a long time ago! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLOL! My mother use to talk about doing all that. I just liked the way mud felt between my toes. I was a tomboy, so I enjoyed beating up the boys verses playing with the dolls unless we were playing General Hospital where I was the Doctor that saved every dolls life.
DeleteMy brother, who is a few years older than me, would leave candy in his room. I would sneak into his room when he was gone and "steal" the candy. I later found out that he used to buy extra because he knew I was doing it. Great story about your sisters. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Anonymous. That is such a sweet story of your brother looking out for his sister.
DeleteSibling love is one of the best relationships you can be involved in.

ReplyDeleteLOL! As I was writing this post, I laughed so hard remembering how we use to pretend we were from England and wearing some of Nah Nah's old shoes and purses. I wish we had pictures. You know I would have posted them.
